The third generation Chevrolet Corvette (1968 -1982) vehicles are more opu-lent in appearance than their predecessors. With regard to the front section, the C 3chief of design, Bill Mitchell, was inspired by the Mako Shark II Show Car. He remained true to the previous Corvette by retaining the necking in the region of the doors. However, the most striking features of the contours proved the redesigned opulently arched fenders. The typical side profile, re-sembling a coca-cola bottle, earned it the nickname "Coke Bottle Shape Cor-vette". The manageably sized boot could only be accessed from inside the car and started just under the almost vertical rear window, as the model clearly shows. The opening bonnet allows a good view of the awesome engine, a mighty beast even in the 1:25 scale model version!
